Course Overview

Rescue Leadership Training is unlike any course you’ve taken before. This intensive 5-day program pushes participants to their limits with long 10+ hour days, night scenarios, and evening theory sessions. Designed for experienced rope rescue practitioners, this course develops leadership, decision-making, and high-level technical proficiency through immersive, scenario-driven learning.

Participants will take part in demanding team leader development exercises, including:

  • Command and control
  • Communication under pressure
  • Contingency management and rescue from system failures
  • Leadership and multi-team coordination
  • Adapting to dynamic rescue environments
  • Medical interventions during technical rescues
  • Technical skills refinement
  • TTRS, DMDB, and SRT system decision-making

Training Environments

Skills will be developed across a variety of real-world settings using diverse equipment and system configurations.

Course Expectations

This is a mentally and physically demanding program, built on over 20 years of teaching experience and field-tested rescue leadership curricula.
Expect long days, challenging scenarios, and minimal classroom time — most of your learning will happen on the rope.

This is a course for seasoned rescuers ready to grow as leaders.
You’ll leave with greater confidence, sharper judgment, and stronger technical and team management skills.

Previous knowledge

  • ITRA rope rescue level 3
  • NFPA Rope Rescue Technician Level, or
  • SPRAT / IRATA Level 2, or
  • GRIMP IMP2, or equivalent experience.
